Turkish photographer Gül Karakoç Yılmaz, born in Edirne in 1968, works professionally in the education sector. A graduate of Anadolu University’s Photography and Graphic Arts Department, Yılmaz has been involved in photography for over 12 years, working in various workshops and exhibiting her work in galleries across genres such as street, documentary, portrait, minimal, and macro photography.
A holder of the AFIAP distinction, Yılmaz feels most connected to street photography, where she explores the magic hidden in the spontaneity of the moment and the beauty of imperfection. She has served on the EFOD Board of Directors.
Gül Karakoç Yılmaz has taught photography at the Halk Education Center and provided photography education to primary school children in collaboration with EFOD. She has also participated in TFSF’s "Visual Stories from My Hometown" documentary project and the "Avunamayanlar" project
Currently, she is working on projects at the 10 Logos Photography Workshops, striving to approach life and photography with an understanding free from prejudice and preconceptions.
