Isabelle Scotta

  • Born in Brest, I grew up in Nantes and I live and work in Paris.

Freelance photographer, I cover artistic, cultural and corporate events. My personal approach, more introspective, leans towards the objects, architectures and traces left by human to question his way of inhabiting the territory by the imaginary. If I always document myself upstream on what was lived on the towns, however, my shooting is instinctive, without staging.

I walk, especially at night, in a meditative state where I cease to belong to the ordinary world, that It creates the passage, the osmosis, the signs, that I can’t usually see.

Since 2022, I have been paying particular attention to French seaside resorts as a dream and utopia. A factory of happiness in an ephemeral setting. My series Tropicalism, realized in 2022, questions the city of Royan and its fifties architecture inspired by Brazil, a cinematic aesthetic referring to a retro-futuristic fantasy, a seaside dream that humanity seems today to have abandoned.

My series Anamnesis, realized during my residency for Planches Contact in Deauville in 2023, evokes a world out of time that mixes my memory with that of Deauville and inspires me an imaginary city, a cinematic narrative between 1900 and contemporary world in this town famous for is « Festival du Cinéma Américain ».

My photographic series are the subject of exhibitions mainly in France since 2020.
