Katy Gómez Catalina
“Photography crossed my life a long time ago to make it more complete and happy. I am passionate about telling stories and taking advantage of the narrative power of photography to express my feelings about the place, while I enjoy the pleasure of Seeing, Feeling and Photographing”. She was born in Úbeda (Jaén).
She is a doctor in Veterinary Medicine, a photographer by passion and a traveler without limits. Her camera has become an inseparable travel companion, with it she narrates her trip as a writer would do with her diary. She feels deeply seduced by the human element.
Her photographic work has been recognized in numerous contests, among which we highlight: Travel Photographer of the Year. Absolute winner in 2019 and awarded in 2022, 2018 and 2017. Honorary prize in the ASISA International Photography Contest, 2022. Spain. 2nd Prize HIPA Portfolio 2021, Hadam Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award HIPA, Dubai. Gold medal Trierenberg Super Circuit, 2021 Austria. National Award at the 2018 Sony World Photography Award. Finalist for the Alpha Female Awards at the 2020 Sony World Photography Award. Le Prix de la Photographie in Paris 2022. Tokyo International Photo Award TIFA, gold medal, 2022. She is the author of the book El viaje de la mirada de la colección fotoruta y Ellas, Elles, They…, from Editorial Universidad de Jaén, recognized as the best photography book 2021 by the Spanish Confederation of Photography.
